Breeders, pet owners, and veterinarians have been using Lectro‐Kennels to warm pets for more than 40 years. Use this unique heated dog pad to keep your special pet warm in even the coldest temperatures, whether outdoors or indoors. Its internal thermostats automatically heat to a dog’s natural body temperature (about 102°F) and will turn on and off as needed to keep him or her warm and safe. We build this durable heated pad with tough ABS plastic and a 5.5 foot steel-wrapped cord, shielding the product from a dog’s chewing while also keeping pets safe.

Each and every K&H Lectro-Kennel Heated Pad includes a FREE fleece cover. Yes that’s right, we said FREE!!! Use the Lectro-Kennel with or without the included fleece cover. Its washable, soft weave allows the pad’s warmth to radiate through to your pet whereas a blanket or any other cover would trap the heat inside the pad, possibly causing a malfunction.

For added protection, drill holes through the outer lip of the Lectro-Kennel and screw it down to the floor or onto the wall. This will deter pets from picking up the pad like a chew toy.

Whether outdoors or indoors, use the K&H Lectro-Kennel anywhere a flat, stable surface is available. Its water-resistant build is perfect for dog houses, porches, garage floors, barns, or even the living room. No matter where you set the Lectro-Kennel, it’s sure to be your dog’s favorite resting place.

The K&H Lectro-Kennel has been tested rigorously and certified by MET Labs. Their certification means this product adheres to strict electrical safety standards.

Pre-set internal thermostats automatically monitor the surface temperature to keep your dog warm and comfortable. K&H outdoor pads are designed to warm to your pet’s normal body temperature of 102°F when he/she lies on the pad. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. We designed the Lectro-Kennel with simplicity in mind. Plug it in and it will automatically warm on its own. There is no on/off switch to worry about and the pad will never exceed the natural body temperature of a dog or cat. Now that’s easy!

Monitor Closely – Failure Mode Issues, April 15, 2015

Caution: The failure mode of this item may set your house on fire. I have several of these that I use indoors on either a brick fireplace hearth or concrete floor. They have only been used a few months during winter time for three years now. Just by chance I felt the heat coming off one of them and immediately yanked the plug out of the socket- it was about to go nuclear as in a total melt-down. Please see attached photos showing the melted state of that unit. It was very hot to the touch and the faux sheepskin cover was stuck to it in spots– it was that hot.

This is a very uncomfortable and alarming situation. My solution was both of them went out in the trash. The pets will need to use sunshine or our laps to keep warm.

Otherwise, they did work nice and the pets loved the heat provided. I just want to make sure they also have a house to live in.

I have had 3 heating pads from K&H Manufacturing. Each of the first two (a little smaller than this unit) lasted a little more than a year and just died. When I got the third one, right out of the box it made a loud clicking noise every few minutes. I sent an email to the company and they responded that there might be a little dust in the thermostat and after a few weeks it should go away. It didn’t. I emailed the company again and told them the problem hadn’t resolved. I explained that I was travelling in Mexico but would be in Texas for a week 2 weeks hence. They didn’t respond. I emailed again, but by the time they responded I was already in Texas and didn’t have the defective heating pad with me.

The heating pads are okay when they work but you can figure on replacing them in about a year. And be aware that customer service is not a priority with K&H. Forewarned is forearmed.

2 dead puppies – worst mistake ever!, September 4, 2014

Horrible mistake that cost me the lives of 2 puppies, almost 3. I’ve used these before and had so/so luck with them (they seem to quit working after short periods of time). I saw them on sale and decided I’d try them out again. Put a brand new one in with my litter of 5 perfectly healthy, active 4 week old English Bulldog pups. 1 died within 12 hours of putting it in with them. Another one died the next day, and a third was on its deathbed that evening. After a thorough vet visit where they examined both dead puppies and my 1 sick pup, my vet told me my puppies had been electrocuted. The ONLY thing that could have done it was the heating pad malfunctioning and shorting out. The puppies could not chew on the pad or the cord either, this was strictly from shorting out out of the blue. I took the heating pad out and haven’t had a problem since. So frustrating and heartbreaking!! I just purchased several of these on sale, they will be going in the trash and will NEVER use these again.
